Egyptisch stenen amulet van Nijlbaars.
The Nile perch played a significant role in religious rituals since early Egyptian times, like in the southern Hyrakonpolis. One of the first kings was named Aha (The fighter) which was also the Egyptian name for the Nile perch. Later the god Neith was associated with the fish in Latopolis (The city of the Nile perch).
